Hilary lives in seaside Sorrento with her father and sixteen year old son Troy. These three sisters, who have been reunited after ten years in different worlds, have to come to terms with personal loss, sacrifice, infidelity and honour. Interspersed within the walls of a family who are already struggling to survive harmoniously it is Meg's semi-autobiographical novel, recently short-listed for the Booker prize, which further strains relationships.
